Allow For Natural Consequences

Have you ever seen the joy on a child’s face the first time they ride a bike by themselves with no training wheels?  Yes, they may shed tears over the pain of falling a few times at first.  But all that is forgotten when they finally get it.  The pride and joy they feel eclipses the scrapes and bruises in the learning.  We deprive them of that if we are too scared to let them fall.  To use an AA phrase, ‘don’t hit the asphalt’. We all experience consequences of our actions or inactions at some point, whether those consequences are positive or negative. If we shield those we love from experiencing natural consequences to actions, we may be depriving them from experiencing growth from negative consequences as well as the joy they could get from experiencing wonderful consequences.

You Deserve To Thrive

Your well-being is vital, both for yourself and for the person you care about. Chronic worry can take a toll on your health, making it harder to support your loved one through their recovery journey. By taking care of yourself, you'll be better able to be there for them when they need you most. Remember, you deserve to live a happy, fulfilling life. You deserve to thrive.

Treatment Options

This is a very important session in which we discuss inviting your loved one to enter treatment. We will review some motivational hooks for this treatment invitation. What would help motivate your loved one to engage in treatment? It is important to identify windows of opportunity for having this conversation regarding treatment. When do you think it would be a good time to have this conversation with your loved one? What are some windows of opportunity?
