Heather's story began with a childhood marked by adversity. Born with the ability to hear, she lost 90 percent of her hearing due to a virus, leading to isolation and bullying from her peers. Despite these challenges, Heather found solace in books and sports, developing resilience from a young age.
As Heather entered college, she turned to heavy drinking, which spiraled into frequent blackouts. However, a life-altering decision to undergo Cochlear Implant surgery reduced her hearing loss and set her on a path to recovery. Despite the challenges of adjusting to newfound sounds and battling emotional struggles, Heather persevered.
From Darkness to Light: The Birth of Illuminate
Heather's journey to recovery led her to a career in coaching, where she found purpose in helping others overcome addiction. In 2021, after years of personal and professional growth, Heather founded Illuminate Community Recovery Services. With a mission to empower individuals and families on their journey to recovery, Illuminate offers a range of peer support services tailored to diverse needs.

Illuminate's approach is rooted in compassion, understanding, and empowerment. Despite her professional dedication, Heather's personal passions may surprise many. An adrenaline junkie at heart, Heather finds joy in extreme sports like skydiving and bungee jumping. In addition to her adventurous side, Heather enjoys farm life with her husband and three children, surrounded by a menagerie of animals. And, adding a touch of whimsy to her days, Heather has discovered a creative passion for crafting adorable stuffed animals from yarn.
